Ben & Marjorie King Memorial Bursary

The Ben and Marjorie King Memorial Bursary Fund

The Ben and Marjorie King Memorial Bursary was created by the Kings’ son The Rev. Dr. Harold King and family on the occasion of Harold and his wife Doreen’s 50th wedding anniversary in 2007.

Ben (1895-1980) and Marjorie (1902-1995) married in 1919 and moved to Warren MB in 1925, where they farmed till their retirement. They were very community minded citizens, serving on many Boards and committees. Ben was a Councillor for the RM of Woodlands for 26 years. Together they had nine children.

The winner of the King Memorial Bursary must be a graduate of Warren Collegiate, be a well-rounded student, have made contributions to the community, submit an essay on “the Importance of Community Service,” experience financial need and register for post-secondary education within 2 years of high school graduation.

Currently the Fund makes three annual awards of $1,000.00 each.
