This is a new fund that was started in 2018. It is undesignated, which means that the allocation can be made to any approved grantee as part of our Community Grants Program.
George Willox moved to the Argyle area farm, with his parents, in 1934. He married Grace (nee Heidahl) from the Stonewall area in 1943. They farmed and raised their 4 children together on that farm. The mixed farm operation and family were more than full time jobs, especially for the 25+ years running a dairy. George played baseball and curled throughout the local communities, forming many lifelong friendships with fellow farmers over many years. Grace and George shared a love of animals, the land, and the farm life in their close-knit community. They had, however, precious little time to participate actively in the community during “the dairy years.”
Grace passed away in 1984 and George passed in 2012. In subsequent years, their daughter Peggy Linklater (nee Willox) struggled to find a way to keep their presence felt in their beloved community. Finally, a decision was made in 2018 to start a undesignated legacy fund in their names through the ICF. This fund allows their love and support for their communities to be solidified and relevant for the future.
The ICF is proud to be a partner in this legacy.
