The Standard Limestone Quarries Fund was established as a permanent designated fund by Merle Balsillie. Starting in 2022, the fund will pay out an annual grant to South West District Palliative Care Inc.

Merle created this fund to help SWDPC and to keep alive the memory of two friends, Rob Broadfoot and Jim Dola. Through their struggles, she learned of the importance of local quality palliative care.
