The Green Acres Park Pavilion
Spend Down Fund
The Teulon Community Development Initiative (TCDI) is an incorporated non-profit and grass roots committee. Our vision is to create an accessible venue where generations can gather, collaborate, and connect. TCDI strengthens the central Interlake by developing a showcase venue at Green Acres Park, driven by a grassroots community initiative.

This spend down fund is a partnership with the Town of Teulon and the Interlake Community Foundation. Donations of $50 and over made to this fund through the Interlake Community Foundation will be eligible for a charitable tax receipt. The ICF will pay the fund through to the Town of Teulon for the Pavilion Park Project. This is a spend down fund, and is not permanently endowed.
The Green Acres Park Pavilion will be a 5400 square foot four season building with a commercial kitchen, an indoor dining area, modern washrooms, and an outdoor patio complete with a fire pit or fireplace. The building’s intent is to make it easier for user groups to host summer park events and to attract an increasing number of events to this beautiful park. Low long-term maintenance and utility costs will be top of mind in the construction.

The TCDI has set an ambitious goal of completing this project by December 2028.
Various citizens and community user groups have suggested the need for such a facility over the past decade. The reasoning is clear. A recent survey indicates:
-Green Acres Park lacks modern accessible washrooms in quantity to properly service large events. 93% of respondents stated that new Green Acres Park amenities should include proper washrooms.
-The two existing Green Acres Park canteens are at least half a century old. Green Acres Park currently has no certified commercial food preparation space which meets MB Health and Safety standards. Green Acres Park has no sheltered dining area to host events during poor weather and no LGCA approved liquor service area.74% of respondents stated that new Green Acres Park amenities should include tables, seating, a water supply and electricity/Wi-Fi. 65% of respondents stated that their most popular park activity is attending events.
We need to raise 1.5 million dollars in three years. We do not expect to ask for tax increases to fund this build. Fundraising activities will occur. Government grants and corporate grants will be applied for. The Teulon business community is always generous to so many different Teulon events, and we expect to approach them with our plans.
